In the year 1988 Reinhard Rüter, technician mechanical engineering, founded a company to produce his latest development. August 2013

He had been employed as a designer and as such he had already newly conceived some machines for the milling industry, developed them further to bring them to market maturity and supervised production. With the patented Crossyoke-Plansifter he had updated plansifter construction in many respects which today is still based on Carl Haggenmacher's invention of 1888. The beginnings can be traced to the proverbial car shed.

The first test models and the prototype were built in his garage. He obtained practical assistance from his family as well as from local and partner companies, such as the former RCG. The first prototype to be used in production is still in operation today. It is in the Eickernmühle in Lemgo-Voßheide where they subsequently installed a second Crossyoke-Plansifter.

The present company seat is in Hille-Nordhemmern (Germany), in a small place in East Westphalia, north of the Porta Westfalica. Here former dairy buildings were acquired, rebuilt for mechanical engineering purposes and modernized. Since 1989 the company has had its manufacturing and development site there.

Our claim - highly efficient and compact plansifters for the industries

The ideas and technical concepts of Reinhard Rüter, company founder, were designed based on the latest CAD systems of that time in close cooperation with his eldest son Cord Rüter, graduate engineer FH. Plansifter production was structured and continuously optimized.

For this purpose the company developed its own production planning system. In August 1991 Cord Rüter joined the company on a full-time basis. Until today the focus lies on the production of highly efficient and compact plansifters in single-box and cross-head type design for the industry.

Crossyoke-Plansifter

Thanks to its flexible sieve stack the Crossyoke-Plansifter offers an unusually wide range of applications. It is used in small mills with up to twelve sieve passages per plansifter, in large mills with a capacity of up to 5 tonnes/h per sieve stack at the 1st grinding stage and with a capacity of up to 100 tonnes/h in the resifting phase.

Based on the special drive and balancing principle of the Crossyoke-Plansifters two stacks each of the four sieve stacks are connected crosswise through a yoke. These elements balance each other. There is no need to install additional rotating mass and by this weight and energy consumption are reduced. Contrary to other conventional designs the transfer of substantial dynamic forces to the building is avoided. Thanks to the extensive use of light metal, the new sieve design and the use of sophisticated design technology the Crossyoke-Plansifter weight is only about one fifth of that of conventional plansifters. The modular construction and compact dimensions allow for short assembly times and use also in unfavourable spatial situations. The heaviest single part weighs only approx. 50 kg. The largest individual part can be passed through an opening of only 0.8 x 1.0 m.

A further fields of application

Beside the use in the milling industry there are further fields of application such as sieving of corn, rice, starch and egg white, compound feeding stuffs, pellets, wood such as cellulose, cork, spices, plastic materials, and many other products. More than 560 Crossyoke-Plansifters have been sold. The largest number of machines went to Germany followed by Asia, North Africa and Europe.

The special driven and balancing principle

Particularly smooth running thanks to the special driven and balancing principle: Two stacks each of the four sieve stacks are connected crosswise through a yoke. These elements balance each other.

Sieve stack of an open Crossyoke-Plansifter. The sieve units consist of a round, two-piece casing with square sieve frame. Four or twelve product channels are positioned between the casing and the sieve stack. The sieve consists of the sieve frame which is made from aluminium profiles and the sieve collecting tray.

Single-box plansifter

The single-box plansifter has been conceived for smaller capacities or less passages. This model too has developed to become a bestseller.

The sieve stack casings, sieve stacks and sieves correspond to those of the Crossyoke-Plansifter. However, an encapsulated unbalance drive unit has been integrated into the sieve stack.

By now more than 400 single-box plansifters are being used not only in Germany but also worldwide. The Crossyoke-Plansifter as well as the singe-box plansifter can be supplied in several construction heights. Consequently the machines can be adapted to the required capacity and the available space.

Star-like sieve cleaning unit as industrial standard

The patented star-like sieve cleaning unit of the Crossyoke-Plansifter allows for a higher specific sieve surface capacity. It forms a functional unit of a bottom and sieve cleaning system whereas the woven wire mesh is no longer required.

By this the sieving capacity could be increased and as the woven wire mesh is no longer needed it was possible to arrange more sieves in one stack.

The bristles in a hand-made star-like sieve cleaning unit were still fitted by hand by Ulrich Kammann, Heinrich Kammann eK, Bünde (Germany).

Within a period of 25 years this sieve cleaning unit has been developed in a way to be suitable for use not only in the Crossyoke-Plansifter but also as a standard unit in this industrial sector worldwide.

Rüter roller mill

A double roller mill 600 from Rüter Maschinenbau. The coupler mechanism works with an easy to maintain Multi-V-flat belt. The roller design allows for quick and easy roller change.

With his Rüter roller mill Reinhard Rüter realized ideas that are intended to offer great advantages compared with those of conventional models. The solid chassis is arranged in a compact desk-type aluminium casing. The innovation is concealed inside the roller mill and refers to the replacement of the rollers.

The flange shafts are simply just separated from the grinding rollers and remain in the chassis. This is how the grinding rollers can be easily replaced within a short time.

The costs and technical efforts for this innovative solution are low when compared with those of other solutions.

Rüter roller mills - for a reliable permanent operation

Great importance has been attached to reliable permanent operation which, beside others, is ensured by the coupler mechanisms driven by Multi-V-flat belts on both sides of the roller. According to Reinhard Rüter's statement machines of the first series have been permanently running for years.

The roller frame is produced in two different sizes and allows for flexible adaptation to the specific requirements on site.

Conclusion 25 years Rüter Maschinenbau

In its present form the Crossyoke-Plansifter represents 25 years of experience and approx. 560 installations worldwide. Nearly all the machines of the first generation are still being used today. Notwithstanding this the design has been continuously optimized according to the manufacturer's statement. 90% of the production is built in Rüter's own company and is by 100% Made in Germany.
